A Queen Anne/George I mahogany musical longcase clock by Henry Thornton, the arched hood with three brass sphere finials and flanked by brass inset pilaster columns, the case with arched door and similar columns, the brass arched dial with silvered chapter ring, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the three train movement with six pillars striking on a bell and playing six tunes on eight bells with a cylinder - Bright Aurelia, Whitehall, The Happy Clown, Don't You Tickle Me, Hanover March, and Lillibulero, the dial signed Henry Thornton, London; Thornton was admitted to the Clockmaker's Company in 1699 and worked until 1732, he made similar clocks for the Czar of Russia, now in the Collections of the Winter Palace and Hermitage, 262cm high
